Overview

No part of these lovely mountains is more than 20km from a sizeable town, yet the sense of remoteness and peace, which pervades the range, is profound. The urge to leave the car and breathe in the air, the tranquillity and the lovely panoramas, which present themselves round every corner, will prove irresistible." (thanks www.southeastireland.com) This is an easily climbed range of mountains. But it is worth the climb, particularly from Mahon Falls over to the back of the Coumshingaun lake. Coumshingaun lake is widely regarded as one of the best examples of a Coum lake in Europe. From the nearest car park it is approximately a 1 hour easy walk to the lake or 2-3 hours to climb the ridge.
