Shirley leading pitch one of...
Shirley leading pitch one of West Face Variation's direct start (5.8). This is an awkward for the grade start that tackles the right side of the "flake" (25 foot tall flake) at the base of the west face. Either hand traverse (strenuous) or foot shuffle (scary; March 6, 2005).

Brian JenkinsI remember this well.

Voted 10/10

That was one weird start. I was so pumped after pitch one it was not funny. All on a 5.8. :- P

Yeah, the left start looks intimidating but is OK; this right start looks straightforward but is actually awkward (at least for me). Go figure!
