Re: Well, that's something...

True, but we did see it twice a day on the trek! It's amazing what those guys can crank out on a two-burner gas stove.

Where's the Chocolate?

That's the only thing missing in the picture. In ay case, it really looks like I'm not carrying enough food on my hikes...

Re: Where's the Chocolate?

The tin of chocolate is there, just visible beyond the honey and powdered milk, but before the peanut butter. They didn't have any malt vinegar for the fries, however. The summit push Godiva chocolate was being carefully rationed by its owner.

What, no dinning tent??

When i climbed Kilimanjaro (Sept 2001) I was amazed at the plush mealtime set up - the table was set with linens ! Almost expected to see candles on our table!! Even surprised us with freshly cut watermellon at high camp (we climbed the Western Breach via Shira and Shira I)

Re: What, no dinning tent??

Hi Liz. Nah, we were tough, we didn't need one of those sissy dining tents! :-}

Actually since it was just the two of us they didn't carry a dining tent, and when the weather was bad (almost every night) we just ate sitting up in our sleeping tent. But yes, the "table" was always nicely set and they surprised and delighted us with fresh fruit and vegetables every day.

Re: What, no dinning tent??

Kili was certainly the most spoiled i have ever been on a trek! Never expected all the Marangu Hotel arranged for us (also just two of us)

And it was a very rude awakening when off to Aconcagua i went ... thank God for the mules!!! ;-)

All great fun however!
