| Awesome on the first ascent. Went back a couple weeks ago and down-climbed a few hundred feet on the SW ridge from the summit. Awesome, steep, exposed class 3. I know everyone goes to Mt. Washington, but has anyone here done the SW ridge of Ellinor? Looks like it leads to the Staircase area. Possible bushwhacking involved. | ||

| MachSix | Interesting in Deep Snow ![]() Date Climbed: Apr 10, 2010 | |
| First snow camping outing for a class. It had just recently snowed a lot, so making our way from about 2 miles below the lower TH to just out of the trees was interesting, especially with students and overnight gear. After setting up camp, myself, a few other instructors and students decided to kick steps to the summit for the rest of the team and then try for A Peak the next day. Fun times | ||

| climbnshoot | Great day for a climb ![]() Date Climbed: Mar 20, 2010 | |
| A very fun and accessible climb. We had great weather a good views of the Hood Canal and Mt Rainier. Basically this was a hike until the final 1,000 feet, which steepens up to nearly 45ยบ. There wasn't anything dangerous in the ascent chute so you could presumably climb it w/o an iceaxe, but why not just bring one! :) It will definitely help you on the glissade. I took a few photos and put them on my Flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/climbnshoot/ | ||

| mtncorg | Nice intro to the Olympics ![]() | |
| Good chance to see goats and a nice view of Seattle and Tacoma from here and Washington. The traverse over to Mt Washington is a grand day alpine adventure. | ||

| It was hot (for Washington State) but it was a beautiful hike. Crowded as usual but a fun leg stretcher before Rainier. | ||

| One of my top 5 favorite climbs, has everything for a non-technical route. The goats were impressive to watch as they walked down the steep ravine off the summit, on the west side. Definitely returning with family and friends in the future. Cant wait to glissade down! | ||

| Redwic | Two Summits, One Day!!! ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 2, 2009 | |
| Fellow SPer "Gimpilator" and I summited Mount Ellinor in the morning, taking in the views and seeing at least 15 mountain goats, but then wondered about also summiting neighboring peak Mount Washington via the ridgeline traverse between them. The traverse looked a little too dicey without snowpack covering the entire ridgeline, so we went all the way down to the trailhead and ascended Mount Washington from its south trailhead. 5700' elevation gain in one day was great. | ||

| gimpilator | Short But Very Rewarding ![]() Date Climbed: Jul 2, 2009 | |
| Redwic and I made quick work of this one stopping only to gape at a few goats along the way. We had tentative plans to attempt the traverse over to Mount Washington but it appeared to be lacking the necessary snow cover. We returned to the car and then climbed Washington from the standard route. 5700+ feet of total gain. What a day! | ||

| Great conditioning climb. Great views. Great goats. Easy enough for beginners (if clear of snow). May want to go up and down a few times to really get a good work out. Trail is nice and steep in parts! | ||

| I would have to say this was the first time I can face to face with a mountian goat and he wasnt having it. Thought for sure I was going to get bucked off the mountain. Even funnier was the amount of dogs that make it up there. My count was three on that day. Goats or Dogs it didnt matter if was a great climb/hike up. | ||

| Mountainjeff | Great Sunny Day ![]() Date Climbed: May 16, 2009 | |
| The road was clear to the lower trailhead, but a snow bank prevented further driving. It should melt out in a couple weeks. Consistent snow started about a quarter mile below the chute. The chute had slushy snow that had fallen last week. There has been an avalanche all the way down the chute several days ago. The conditions seem to have stabilized. I reached the summit in 2 hrs and the glissade only took 15 minutes. It was a great day. | ||

| Overcast, cool, with light precip and felt like winter still with the fire road snowed in. Lots of post holing without snowshoes. Stomach deep pristine snow from the base of the avalanche chute and pristine all the way to the summit. Topped out around 4:03 PM and sky cleared enough to see Mt. Washington bathed in partial light, the various cornices, and other peaks, spectacular! Sunrise and sunsets are also amazing. 360 degree color. | ||

| Cascade Scrambler | First climb in the Olympics ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 13, 2008 | |
| Ascended from the upper TH, 90 minutes to the top. Saw five goats in addition to the scenery. Baker, Glacier, Rainier, Adams and St. Helens were visible in addition to the rest of the beautiful Olympic range. An excellent first climb in the Olympics, with many more to come. | ||
