Mt.Hood Old Chute Summit
What a great night to summit. The group started at 11pm from the climbers cave (what!!!?? a heated floor!), we headed up the snowcat tracks for what seemed like forever.
Keep in mind that a headlamp is a great idea for two reasons: First, to see where your going; and second, to let the snowcat drivers see you!
After a couple of climbers bailed at the top of the Palmer we continued on for another hour or so before strapping up. Not that it was very icey, but one wrong move and it would ruin your night.
At the Hogsback we looked at the routes and Avy conditions. It was still early, so away we go!
We took the Old Chute route, just like everyone else. What a long night, but it was the greatest night ever.
