Mt. Lamlam  Sucess!

Awesome view of the entire island! Was expecting just a little bit more of a walk then that. Only took me and a friend 20 min to get to the top. Hope never to go back to Guam again!!

Climbed in 1984  Sucess!

I climbed this in 1984 with my wife before she passed away (heck, before she was even my wife!) she was assigned at Big Navy Hospital in Agana and I was assigned to Andersen AFB. On the way back down that infamous wind blew a bit of debris that landed in my eye. Being a dutiful Navy corpsman, she insisted on taking me to the emergency room and washing it out--I swear, she used a bathtub full of water to do so! She insisted on patching it, and that I report to the AFB hospital the next day to have it examined. Man, she could be a pain in the rear when it came to things medical, but I sure do miss her. --mark d.

Mt Lamlam  Sucess!

I was in Guam on a business trip and had some free time so I went alone. Sword grass and mosquitoes were bad. The view is remarkable; the entire island can be seen.

Stations of the Cross run all the way to the top and the locals will hike it at sunrise on religious holidays such as Easter and Good Friday.

Route Climbed: trail on west side Date Climbed: December 1996  Sucess!

I had opportunity to climb this mountain when I was a missionary in Micronesia for a year. I was visiting Guam for a week at Christmastime.

I only had flip-flops with me at the time and I began my hike with these. However, the trail was muddy and my feet were sliding everywhere, so I gave up on them and hiked barefoot. One of my friends let me borrow his sandals for the hike down when my feet were getting sore. The summit has several crosses on it and pilgrimages are made each year on Easter Sunday. The views from the summit are spectacular.

Route Climbed: trail from Hwy 1 Date Climbed: 22 Feb 2003  Sucess!

Met up with local boonie stomper and slashed our way to the top of this windy green monster. Thank goodness I wore long pants and gloves, but my arms were clawed to death from cane grass. We passed many war relics and experienced a couple different wild fires thanks to poachers.

From what I understand, at the peak of Mt Lam Lam the total elevation from bottom of Marianna Trench, this hump is taller than Mt Everest!

Of course the entire island can be viewed from the peak, not much to see. Hope to never go back!
