Mt Rainier Successful Summit - 7-10-09
Climbed the Emmons Glacier Route, July 8-10. Departed White River Campground for Camp Curtis on July 8th. Climbed thru morning sun and afternoon fog and clouds arriving at 5pm in light rain.Departed Camp Curtis in the morning of July 9th for Emmons flats via Camp Schurman bivying with 3 other climbing groups on the flats. A sunny and clear day. Great views.
Alpine start on 7/10/09 at 1:00am for the summit, climbing from the Flats up thru the Corridor with a traverse to Liberty Saddle, then on to the summit arriving at 7:00am
Absolutely clear sunny day at the top. Pictures and logbook signins on the summit, then descended from the summit for the flats at 8:00am arriving at 10:00am.
Crashed in the tents for some R&R and to avoid the sun. Descended from Emmons at 2:00pm and arrived at White River at 6:00pm
First summit attempt on Mt.Rainier, excellent climbing team and a great trip!
