My Day-Hike Up Ama Dablam

My Day-Hike Up Ama Dablam

This is a close-up shot of the area I went up on my Ama Dablam day hike. The west spire is in the foreground with an altitude of 6130 meters. The north side of the main peak is to the left. My route followed the dark ridge bottom center of page from left to right. Got up to the second hump before calling it a safe enough day. I reached an honest two fifths of the way up the spire, if you count starting from the valley floor. Stuff started getting fairly steep up there, but there were plenty of solid rock slabs to hang onto. Tons of fun for a spur of the moment decision, and how could you resist such a place anyway if it's right across the river? Photo by Ted Callahan April 2007

Re: Wow!

Ted had a great lens with him. His only issue was the extra weight...

Re: Wow!

Well then, the weight was worth it for this shot!
