My Great Uncle on the ridge...

My Great Uncle on the ridge of Mt. Mansfield - Summer,1937. He once told me there used to be a bounty on porcupines along the Long Trail. They would use a rake (kept at each shelter) to catch the porcupine behind the quills, then hit it in the nose with a hammer. They would then use the rake to pull the porcupine (now dead) into a pillow case. Each porcupine, so he said, was worth 25 cents. Needless to say, I did not take this picture myself. The photographer is unknown.

Very neat picture...

This photo is a wonderful treasure for you and your family. You should stand in the same place...(I am sure you have already thought of that!)

I wish I had records like this of my family!
