Mystery Circle in J Tree

OK. I'm stymied. What am I looking at? This shot was from the top of Queen Mt. looking towards The Wonderland of Rocks in Joshua Tree, NP. Looks like a UFO landing site to me! The site wasn't ID'ed on my topo. Any thoughts? Thanks!!
