Your pictures took me back to those hot, humid and sunny days, when the atmosphere was filled with countless heavenly odors of plants and flowers of Northern Iran.
Thank you for your vote. I too remember those sights and smells. When I was a child, like so many other Tehranis, we used to travel to the Caspian coast frequently. I always wanted to climb the mountains but I was only a little kid. Then came 21 years of separation from Iran. There is so much to see. I will eventually want to explore these forested mountains too.
Nice to see some trees in the mountains. Have been waiting to see Parrotia Persica in its native habitat which assuredly is on the southern Caspian Riviera.
Have one in the yard. It is a witchhazel tree having leaves like Hamamelis virginiana or Hamamelis arkansas.
Thank you for your vote. I think you mentioned this Parrotia Persica last year too. I just looked it up on the internet. Seems to be famous for beautiful fall foliage. I do not have any other Caspian Sea mountains to add this year. Maybe I can look for it next year if I go to Iran again.
According to the dates, I'm wondering that I was there the time you was, north at Motelghoo... but again we didn't meet :) I drived over 2000 and 3000 valleys, fully vegetated and filled with fog. but not as the snow capped Siyalan mountains above 2000 impressed me 2 month ago... did you go there ?

Untitled CommentNice post. Looks like that place has a very healthy old growth forest covering at least parts of it.
