NE aspect of Mt. Tuscarora....

NE aspect of Mt. Tuscarora. Seagull chute, which is the prefered ski descent, is the backwards 3 on the right side of the pic. It chokes to narrows and is rocky in low snow years. It's upper headwall is around 45* but mellows to around 40* by half way down. The rocky NE face should be avoided most of the year. When it looks skiable the thin snowpack bites back hard. Spatial variability becomes evident here. This line is only in shape a few times a year, if that. On the other side of the ridge, lookers right, there are two chutes that take moderate snow levels to ski (X and Y chute). They are short (2-300' vert) and steep. Access back to the ridge can be achieved by following a subridge below a mellow slope. 12-10-05
