Nearing Mont Blanc summit | [ Sizes: Orig | Med | Small | Thumb ] |
At this point world appears like from an airplane, valleys are almost 4km lower while mighty alpine peaks that yesterday towered above you simply diminished. There is no doubt whose summit ridge this is. As you gasp rare air and every leg weights a ton, you know that soon you’ll be standing on top of King of the Alps, Mont Blanc (4807m). Gouter route, August 2002.

Hasn't voted | I don't know if you are going to believe this but then I still had Olympus c-920 which only has 1.3megapixel :-) Year ago I bought Olympus c-5050. I enlarged some of Mont Blanc shots to A4 size in photo lab and even at that size they look stunning for that resolution. With time I learned that camera worked amazingly on snow and gave very sharp photos while it wasn't that good at capturing green forests where there is much more detail. Of course there is some sharpening applied but not much because I don't like grainy sky. You have to sharpen even 5megapixel shots when they are resized to 640 pixels width because too much detail is lost. | | Posted Nov 19, 2003 10:18 am |

Voted 10/10 | Sure! And when sky becomes grainy, one applies only to sky the softening tool. He, he! | | Posted Nov 19, 2003 11:23 am |

Hasn't voted | You are right Vid but that is not possible on this one because whole shot has bluish cast and even more so because of Sun rays ;-) | | Posted Nov 19, 2003 1:31 pm |
