Awesome page. Proves that NM can compete with Colorado. We may not have as much but we got the goods.

thanks for the comment, and agree w/you completely! we also don't have as many people to track up the snow and spoil the wilderness experience :-)

Backcountry

Where would you recommend going around Taos/Angel Fire for avalanche courses and stuff?

The Taos Ski Valley ski patrol often offers an avalanche course mid-winter. Check out their website regularly for announcements. The Pajarito Mountain ski patrol offers a Level 1 course at least once every other year (next one probably in Feb, 2012). You can check out nnmae.org for avy course announcements for the entire northern NM region. Cheers!
