It appears that the region around New Pass Mine now has a private owner. Turning off towards "New Pass Mine" from US50 at New Pass Summit, and driving up the dirt road, it seems to dead end at a gate that has a "POSTED" sign on it.
The road that goes to the summit has deteriorated in quality, whereby it is difficult with 2WD low-clearance, most likely passable until the left turn to the ridge with a 2WD high-clearance. 4x4 would be very helpful.
