Bikes? Are there bikes left for the willing by the lodge? When we last visited (to Rohatka nad back the same way) there were bikes you could get on so as to ride down the dirt road to Lysa Polana. We jumped at the offer/on the bikes and had good, unexpected fun. At Lysa Polana it turned out a young man, aged about 20, was running the little business.

Re: Bikes? No but I've seen many people biking this valley, even a couple with a baby trail like us, see that. Pity the valley is not allowed further up than the lodge, you could cycle until the very last place where it is large and not steep. Btw I think I've identified the start of the bêta path to Rysy - one of my secret goals of this hike ;) As for the lodge, last time I walked down this valley, 2 hungarian fellow with who I was chatting by random told me they once got caught in a thunderstorm and were invited to spend a night in it by the foresters !

Re: Bikes?Take some beta for a III+ route with you, a French membership card, a piece of rope, let it stick out of the backpack;) and good luck!

Re: Bikes?"take some beta" => ? As for the other things yep, plus an abnormally early awakening and it should be fine ;) If it wasn't a loop I'd even opt for the solution that would be riding a bike till the junction and hiding it in the forest !

Re: Bikes?Sorry I forgot - it won't help on the other side of the border (it's on this side that you have to - theoretically, or rather according to what people say - prove you're ready to climb something at >UIAA III)

Re: Bikes?Yes I know... it works with people's face I think ;) Go with some colorful scout uniform, and go again with an iceaxe attached to your rucksack and mountaineers sunglasses ;)
