Nip & Tuck Free Solo. Comments[ Post a Comment ] | | Foxy Long Bottoms | Re: Are you freakin' kidding me!?! | |
Hasn't voted | It was a super easy route. I was at the bottom of it, looked up and just had the biggest urge so I went for it. I have to really be feeling it to solo. When I've done it, it's wonderful. Never felt more in control. | | Posted Dec 14, 2006 5:30 pm |

Voted 10/10 | Where is this exactly?

| Erik Beeler | Uh | |
Voted 10/10 | Why did you wear your harness? For the extra weight? I have free solo'ed to 25 feet or so but I am not sure that even counts... :P | | Posted Dec 15, 2006 12:20 am |
 | | Foxy Long Bottoms | Re: Uh | |
Hasn't voted | It keeps the butt cheeks in place for photo ops. Just kidding.
I had been climbing all morning roped. Didn't bother to take the harness off for the last little route. | | Posted Dec 15, 2006 3:04 pm |

Voted 10/10 | LOL like you need a harness for that! :) | | Posted Dec 15, 2006 7:59 pm |

Hasn't voted | the hair is a dead giveaway of which way gravity is going. I don't think you're crazy, looks fun. Great shot, too. | | Posted Dec 15, 2006 2:40 am |
| MelbaToast | Where is this? | |
Hasn't voted | So where did you say this is and what's it rated? Cool that someone was set up to photograph you when just had an urge. I can't quite tell, but it looks like there's a guy at the bottom who's not even paying attention. Amazing again...usually pretty blondes freesoloing long routes get noticed. And no chalk? Damn. | | Posted Dec 15, 2006 2:44 am |

Hasn't voted | Thanks. I think the angle of the photo is making it look longer than it really is. I don't remember it being that long. | | Posted Dec 15, 2006 3:06 pm |

Hasn't voted | Hey Melinda: Looks like false advertising, IMHO. | | Posted Dec 15, 2006 4:55 pm |

Hasn't voted | I could see where it would be considered false advertising if I: 1. Was advertising for something, which I'm not. 2. If I didn't disclose that the angle makes it look worse than it is. this was 2 years ago and I honestly remember much about it. I'm sure other can attest that it's mellow.
I was actually pretty srurpised to see it on the front page. But I've mentioned twice already, the photo makes it look steeper than it is. I like the photo regardless of the angle. It's probably one of the better climbing pics taken of me, which is why I posted it. It is not my intent to mislead people. I'm not at all. I just really like the photo. Cheers! | | Posted Dec 15, 2006 5:07 pm |

Hasn't voted | Hey Babs! I was trying to be diplomatic and give her a chance to answer questions....I have some serious doubts about this, too... If you click on the picture and enlarge it there is a little guy way down there who doesn't appear to be looking up at gurlyclimber. I mean there are like 50 10/10 votes on just the picture (all from males I'd bet) - wouldn't something like this have drawn a crowd of drooling guys?
Plus why was someone waiting right there to take the picture if it was unplanned... Why would you solo such a long route (based on the picture) in your harness and without chalk? Why hasn't she said what it's rated and where it is? And isn't this the lady who assured her little boy that she never takes chances when she's climbing?
I'm confused.... | | Posted Dec 15, 2006 5:10 pm |

Hasn't voted | I never said I don;t take chances while I climb. We all do. I pride myself in being an alpinist which is loaded with risks. I do all that I can to minimize those risks for a safe climbing experience. With that being said, this was 2 years ago. When I first started climbing, I did take a lot of risks that were maybe a little over the top. Yes, I could have fallen but this was a route that I was not goint to fall on and as I said before it is solid.
I also said further in the comments that I had a friend up at the top tearing down the anchor. She didn't know I was climbing up. We didn't plan it. When she saw me she was pretty shocked and couldn;t resist taking pictures. She had never seen anyone doing that.
The people at the bottom are my friends and regualr partners. Trust me, I get this sort of back turned reaction a lot. I draw far more attention to myself online than I do in real life. They didn't think anything of it.
3rd, I had my harness on because we were climbing all morning roped. Simetimes I climb with chalk and sometimes I don't. My feet sweat worse than my hands.
As I mentioned before, I don't know the rating. I don't remember how tall it was. It was a single pitch route, maybe 50'more or less. I top roped it earlier. I've done 4th class routes that got my attnetion when this one didn't.
The picture is real and not staged. I have no reason to stage any of my pics, except when I'm trying to do something funny, which also blows up in my face. :-) | | Posted Dec 15, 2006 5:24 pm |

Hasn't voted | Didn't see your comments on page 2 until after I posted, so you ended up answering some questions twice.
Thanks for clearing things up for me. Be careful, gurly! | | Posted Dec 15, 2006 6:59 pm |

Hasn't voted | Nip and Tuck is in Boulder Canyon, up canyon from Castle Rock a few miles. There's some really nice moderate routes there. | | Posted Dec 15, 2006 3:57 am |
