North aspect of Duke

North aspect of Duke

View from North Hoyt (10,209). The two barren bowls of the North Face are separated by a wide timbered ridge, our descent route later in the day. Venturing into the bowls after a windstorm is a bad idea, judging by a catastrophic slab avalanche we witnessed in the East bowl some years back. 2/10/08

Re: Beautiful...

Thanks! It sure was nice to get such a bluebird day after a month and a half of back-to-back snowstorms and cold spells!

I just put the pictures into a little album for the trip
