I've descended the west face scree slope twice without too much hassle. From the summit descend the south slope to between 8000-8200'. Trend right toward the west face of mountain, and descend wide open screen slope about 1/2 down (~1000'). When possible get out of scree basin and head north (right) traversing tree/stump covered ledges working way across and down toward Leroy Basin camp. This saves having to go all the way down (south), and then coming back on the climbers trail.
