North Guardian Angel

Was featured in Climbing Magazine as a 5.6, but the crack up the middle (I am starting up it in this photo) of the east ridge is scrambling grade, maybe 5.4, no need for pro. There is a modern rap sling on tree above. We did Pine Valley Peak which was much more of a challenge in terms of bad rock and exposure, but still, like 5.5, and then ran over and tagged North Guardian. 2nd time ever back in this part of Zion, can't wait to spend loads more time here, a hidden gem with tons to do. Even 5.4?

Dow, I climbed this two days ago and did Tabernacle Dome after. When I went up, I used the workaround but after descending, I decided to solo the crack for fun. The first time, I cheated and grabbed the roots at the crux, but then I did it again without the roots. It was a little harder but still no trouble. I'm glad to see you disagree with the 5.6 rating. Do you even think it is 5.4? Any idea who rated it such or when? Anyway, off to Death Valley soon. Cheers.

I don't Bob....and don't remember to much about this objective...we are finishing up an FA on East Temple tomorrow...20 pitches, from the base of Mt. Spry to the top of East Temple...was out all day today and am a bit scorched...desert heating up, good luck in Death Valley..cheers

Did you guys get it done? The East Temple is a bad-ass peak...would love to see the route page on that.

Did Tabernacle Dome while I was out there. 5.2 at the hardest if you find the best way, and you wouldn't bother with gear, but it's quick and fun with a great view of the Guardian Angels if you ever need something quick to do out there. I'll have a page up soon.

look forward to your page Bob....I can't publish the East Temple route....for some obvious reasons...but it is a mellow 5.9 A0...would be glad to take you up there though if you are ever in town and want to summit East Temple...cheers
