Yer a lucky man...

I had a pal who lived at the base of the Chugach Mountains for several years who never once set foot on a hiking trail there. Can you imagine?

Your pal has lots of company! Reminds me of a long time ago, my dad and I were looking for a trail to Mt. LeConte from near Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Now LeConte is not a small mountain by any standard, and we had driven way up on the side of it. We stopped at a house to ask a guy where the trail was. He said, "What's Mt. LeConte?" And this was the mountain he lived on ... guess his focus was on something else.

They're out there. But it still amazes me.

And those are the kinds of folks who gripe about people trying to access places like Ram Valley, you know, live at the base of the mountains but complain about people climbing said mountains because of having to traverse through their properties. haha
