The route to the Skyline Dr. trailhead has changed partially due to a new housing developement. From the 91 freeway take Lincoln south to Foothill. Go right at the traffic signal onto Foothill.
Just before Foothill dead ends, park at or near the concrete overpass. There's a large sign for the Skyline trail on the left side at the overpass. It directs hikers around, and behind, the new housing tract on a paved asphalt walkway. Stay on the pavement to the locked gate, then go through.
A ranger told me that these "new" homeowners are not happy with this trailhead access. Respect their right to peace and quiet and leave only footprints. As always.
