On the Gherdenacia plateau....

On the Gherdenacia plateau. Among limestone rock plates are beautiful, soft grass carpets. Hiking over the plateau, we also discovered some limestone plates, full of stoned, heart-like shells. An amazing open geology book, really! August 3rd, 2004.

stoned, heart-like shells

These shells are most probably megalodonts. The largest species grew to a size of more than half a meter!

Re: stoned, heart-like shells

Yes, probably, megalodonts - I heard that before. On the high plateau of Kanin massif, in Julian Alps, I know places where quite big examples are in stone plates. But not half a meter, perhaps 20 cm or some more. These in Gherdenacia were up to 10 cm.
