Ordesa arc in evening spectacle
Evening lights above the arc of Ordesa canyon viewed while coming back down from Monte Perdido summit. Being late gets rewarded from time to time...

dramatic in the skies and very peaceful moment all around at the same time. Beautiful evening scenes as a recompensation for no summit views from Perdido a few hours earlier, thanks Eric!

Best greetings,

Could be Photoshop, yes, but it can also be totally natural. I've witnessed similar moments myself while out in the mountains, so... I don't care about such a question. It's simply beautiful

One simple question arises here... what can be the colour of clouds of that kind punctured with vibrant, late sunset light ? blue, grey or maybe black ? :)

The major operation that was made with that pic was simple brightening, just to expose details of the valley and the horizon below(so sky must have even lost a bit of its original contasts at the same time...) what is quite evident for anybody aware of the subject viewing the size of grain here....Shot taken from hand as it was too late to play with tripod having so long way down to Goriz. Not mentioning further adventures and tumbles in the dark it was absolutely worth to stay so long up there that memorable evening!

Best greetings Enrique. Great mountains!

It was a great time indeed. Lots of picturesque places and Ordesa that I wanted to see so much finally with my own eyes... that path traversing cliffs on one side, Faja Pelay is a pure fairy tale! Undertaking a bivouac in a shelter at the vantage point as the storm hit me while coming back late afternoon, so enjoying all possible weather and time sceneries above the depths of the canyon, superb experience.

All photos I've chosen from multitude will be published here in a separate Pirineo album very soon.

Thanks again for all your, so useful help and advice!

Cheers,

Tomek Lodowy

I think it is a fantastic photo! Don't worry about photoshop questions - I have myself seen such colours and light, and everybody who takes photos knows, that our human eyes are almost always giving us better images than our expensive cameras, so especially when there are big light-darkness contrasts. Brightening up the shadows is only an attempt to get closer to the image we saw with our eyes! :-)

I "choose this" as the current Photo of the Day. Basically before 9 I decided to be the tie breaking vote. ;-) After all, it's deserved in my opinion. Well done!
