Description

The Black Diamond Focus AL Harness is the latest in harness innovation, constructed with a unique bullhorn waistbelt to more evenly distribute weight throughout the harness. Black Diamond made sure the harness has every feature needed for sport, trad, & big wall climbing – like traditional gear loops, reinforced haul & belay loops, and 7mm closed-cell foam padding. Adjustable Leg (AL) loops mean the Focus AL can be sized for individual body type or the outerwear of the day. This feature also makes the Focus AL a great option for ice climbers and ski mountaineers – no need to remove crampons or ski boots to put this puppy on.

Comfortable
This harness is my primary climbing harness. The one thing about it is I can wear it for a long period of time without becoming bothered by it. Sometimes I forget I have it on. The adjustable leg loops are great to have for different layering and the gear loops allow for plenty of storage. Great harness overall.

Glaring Flaws
I just got this harness (from an online retailer and cannot return it) and initially I hated it, and rated it the lowest possible on a few websites. It is comfortable, but here are its flaws: the two front gear loops are at 3 and 9 o'clock, and the rear gear loops are *behind* you. Unseeable, barely reachable. Basically unusable if you're climbing something hard and can't dick around getting gear off. I sewed my own extra gear loops on in the front to fix this. The next flaw: look at the description: "...a great option for ice climbers..." ... Yeah except that there is no place to attach BD's own ice clipper (big plastic ice screw racking biner). Lame.

Extremely Comfortable
This is the harness to buy if you plan on wearing a harness all day long. It is very comfortable. The gear loops are excellent. This is a great piece of gear.

Good Harness
This is a good harness for those who are looking for an all around item. Pretty comfortable for those having to wear it on long routes.

Simple, comfortable, reliable. Easy to handle, nice gear loops. A good all around option.
