Painted Hills

This area is now closed to visitors to the Painted Hills Unit due to a new owner that is now raising birds for hunting during the fall. You can still see the lake from along the ridge on top of Carrol Rim, and as you reach the last stop to the right and past the Main Viewpoint that leads to a narrative walking tour of a hillside that has all the hues of the ash that makes up the Painted Hills.

I appreciate the positive feedback. If you are ever in the area and want some knowledge of where and when just let me know. I lead a group of photographers every year, thsis year at the end of May or early June through the three units of the Fossil Beds, and it is iopen to anyone that wants to join. Free of course on this tour.
