Palisade Glacier

The largest glacier in the Sierra. 3/4 mile long, 1/2 mile wide at full capacity. It was quite exhilarating to crest the moraine at 12,200' and see the huge amphitheater of ice sweeping up to the 14,000' peaks silent against the cobalt sky on this fine summer day. Aug '95
