Paul Preuss

Born in Altausee Austria 19 August 1886 killed in a fall on the Manndlkogel North Ridge in the Dachstein Mountains on the 3rd October 1913. He was the ultimate solo climber. He was the initiator of the first "Piton War" before WW1. This was a heated debate about the ethics of climbing and the allowable use of aid be it for direct help or protection. He held the belief that one should be able to down climb everything that one has climbed.
