Overview
Peak Khakhiani (3706m) is the second highest point of magnificent Gvalda Range that rises high above the town of Mestia, the capital of Svaneti (Swanetien) and is visible from every street in town.
Getting There
From Tbilisi by train to Zugdidi then by shared taxi to Mestia. From Kutaisi airport there are direct taxis to Mestia. Air travel is an option though less reliable.
Route
This is an interesting climb (F+, PD) which requires good navigation skills and confidence on steeper snow slopes with some exposure. Later in season there is a considerable danger of a rockfall so speed is imperative. Will take 2 full days.
