A neat, bent icicle, showing how the shelf it hangs under has gradually shifted, tilted, then slid to a collapse finally--over the course of what might be a few days. The current icicle is orientated sideways, which indicates the shelf came to rest rotated--and more interestingly, in the near past, evidenced by the sharp tip that still points sideways.
Since water trickles down mostly everywhere around this area during the hot part of the day, the collapse could not have been too long ago, else its smooth, hooked form might be corrupted by now...
I was contemplating going over this thing since it was quickest, but after noting things such as this, promptly decided it was not quite stable:)
