Hasn't voted | Sarah, The steeper couloirs (steeper than 40 degrees) in the Sierra keep their snow throughout the summer and well into the autumn. By August, the sun transforms the snow into alpine ice. There are many gullies in the Sierra that retain their snow and ice year after year. Its a very good alpine ice climbing terrain. Dana Couloir is one of the best known, easiest and also nicest ice gullies to do in Yosemite/Tuolumne Meadows area. Cheers, Alois. | | Posted Mar 7, 2011 12:21 am |
