Boots, crampons, down jacket with a good maybe, bigger backpack. Trying to get softshell pants, mittens and glove liners, and a balcava this winter

You could rent boots and crampons.

You don't need a down jacket for Mont Blanc in summer. A decent layering system will be more than enough.

When in summer are you thinking of doing it? I should be in the Alps for around 3 weeks during August. Probably Switzerland but might pop to Cham.

We've got a group possibly considering Mont Blanc in mid-July. Nothing too firm yet though.

This sounds like fun. If me and hotoven don't go on our epic dirtbag highpoint adventure it's tempting. Gotta start saving

I was with a friend who climbed in jeans in 1983 with a home made head lamp made from a flash light. Two climbers died that same day from a fall on the way up the hut. Still not sure how that could have happened (perhaps a rock hit them) , but saw the bodies flown out and their gear strown about the rocks.

Check out Canadian affair. You're not that far away from Canada and if you're lucky, you'll find really cheap flights. If you were to book Toronto - Manchester right now it would only cost you $ 149.

It's only 5.5 hours away. I could probably make that in one tank of gas

to summit01

The Les Arolles camp ground in the western end of Chamonix is always packed with climbers and mountaineers each summer. Often you'll be able to find people for Mt Blanc here. That's how I did it in 2006.

If anyone is up for a Summitpost Summer 2010 Mont Blanc outing then count me in!!! If anyone is going then please let me know. I have noticed that 'plans and partners' doesn't get much use but I'm there anyway!

Ahhh this is very temping, depending on the date I might be able to go, but I'm taking some summer classes, so like I said, it all depends on the date. All I would need is boots. (which I would rent so as not to take up extra space on the aircraft.)

Plans and partners isn't doing much for me. Still no final plans for this winter (19 december - 4 januari). I could go snowshoeing, but that's a bit boring. Might have somebody who's interested in doing the Haute Route, but I'd have to look into that, ... . All in all, not that much luck yet.
