Aiguille Verte, Whymper couloir - skiing

by filova » Sun May 11, 2008 7:41 am

Please, I am looking for informations about first female ski descent of Whymper couloir (Aiguille Verte) and/or other women who skied this one. I got one answer from Office de Haute Montagne Chamonix that the first women who skied Whymper couloir is Marie-Jo Vallencant (in July 1973 with Patrick Vallencant and Ansleme Baud). However in Patrick Vallencant's autobiography http://pistehors.com/backcountry/wiki/B ... Vallencant he only mentions skiing this with Anselme. I don´t know what is correct?

new facts - skiing Whymper couloir

by filova » Wed May 14, 2008 6:14 am

I have this book, I read its.
New facts from other forum: http://www.camptocamp.org/forums/viewto ... ?id=127785:

According to "Les alpes du nord a skis" by Anselme Baud (Denoel editions), the day of the second descent in jully 73 by Anselme Baud and Patrick Vallençant, Marie Jo Vallençant started the climb but had to stop at mid-ascent. She waited there and joined the guys for the rest of the descent...
I don't know about first female descent but nowadays the Whymper seems to be skied by dozens of people every year...
