Things are not that safe in the eastern alps just now either.

Even there were avalanche risks in Sistema Central of Spain two weeks ago, I'd bet that it's safer now. It's very difficult to see an avalanche there anytime. In The Pyrenees the situation is by far worst:

Les chutes de neige de vendredi à dimanche matin ont permis au manteau neigeux de se reconstituer et se conforter pour les vacances de février. Mais elles ont eu pour conséquence de le fragiliser et d’accroître les risques d’avalanches puisque dimanche nous en étions à un risque 4 sur une échelle de 5.

Les organisateurs de la course de ski alpinisme Altitoy à Luz-Saint-Sauveur, dans les Hautes-Pyrénées, ont pris la sage précaution de modifier les itinéraires des deux jours de compétitions alors que dans les stations certains prenaient quelques libertés avec le hors piste pour profiter de la bonne poudre.

Dimanche matin des coulées, sans gravité et sans conséquence, se sont produites à La Mongie et Barèges (secteur de Caoubère) sur le Domaine du Tourmalet (Hautes-Pyrénées) nécessitant l’intervention du chien du PGHM de Pierrefitte-Nestalas pour s’assurer que personne n’était enseveli.

Par contre, dans le secteur des Mourtis, au-dessus de Saint-Béat (Haute-Garonne), et hors domaine de la station, un skieur qui faisait du ski de randonnée est mort malgré l’intervention rapide du chien Alan, un berger allemand, sous la conduite de son maître, le gendarme Patrick Lecomte du peloton de gendarmerie de haute montagne (PGHM) de Bagnères-de-Luchon.

Le skieur de randonnée, âgé de 64 ans, est un connaisseur du secteur. Originaire du Comminges, il pratiquait régulièrement son loisir préféré dans ces montagnes. Ce dimanche vers midi, les deux autres personnes qui l’accompagnaient ont pu donner l’alerte. Malheureusement, les secouristes du PGHM de Luchon et du groupe montagne de la gendarmerie de Saint-Gaudens n’ont pu que dégager le corps sans vie du pyrénéiste.

Yesterday a Spanish skier died by avalanche near El Portalet and the border between France and Spain. Details in the Spanish Team thread

Though it's not exactly where the killing avalanche happened Tunel de Bielsa south entrance has been overcrowded in mid January up to 35 climbers at a time in the same ice fall (El Sueño del Agua) gully. I know that the accident was in February 3th and the snow and ice conditions may have changed but there were temperatures above 6ºC and risk 4-5 of avalanches on January 21st:
