Clouds Rest from Valley Floor - snow?

by Peak Baguette » Sat Jul 03, 2010 2:22 am

I'm toying with doing Clouds Rest on Sunday from the Valley Floor, hoping that it won't be too crowded above Nevada Falls. Given the fact that the Half Dome cables went up so late this year, I'm worried about the snow levels. Has anyone been up to Clouds Rest from the Valley Floor side and, if so, how much snow is left there to contend with?

I was up on Illouette Ridge across the valley last weekend and put up an album today called One day in Yosemite. There are pics showing most of that route posted in the album. If you check it out I don't think you have anything to worry about except maybe some patches on the trail on shady northside slopes above 8,000'.

Just got back and there was no snow from valley to cables. Not much snow from tenaya to clouds rest peak, only in the shaded north slopes.
