Cragging in Lazio?

by mountaindog » Wed Nov 22, 2006 5:47 pm

Hey guys,
I am moving to Rome and wondered if there were any cragging opportunities in that part of Lazio. Also, any tips on Gran Sasso or other places? Thanks!

Cheers,

Chris

Monte Circeo and the coast near Gaeta are renowned places for climbing. (Picture linked from this page.)

Fabrizio Antonioli has written a guidebook "Gaeta & Circeo. Sottosopra" (Gaeta and Circeo. Upside Down) as well as another titled "Gran Sasso. 105 itinerari scelti, dai classici ai più recenti" (Gran Sasso. 105 selected routes from the classics to the most recent ones).
Leano, near Terracina, seems to have some nice routes too. I have not climbed at any of these places, but I hope this will get you started.

It also looks like just driving out to the Gran Sasso area may be best.

Ma devo studiare italiano perche tutto i libri iscritto soltanto in italiano.
