What exactly happens when one pushes this link at the very bottom of the page? I noticed that once I did it, I disappeared from the "Who's online" list.

But seriously those cookies seem to provide all the information about what you've been up to, i.e., last message read, threads you're following, and (as you noticed) your identity, at least until your next visit.

Probably some other things I haven't noticed.
