Favorite dried Foods to pack

by billisfree » Tue Jan 19, 2010 7:37 pm

I haven't been happy with the expensive selection of freeze dried foods.

I realized that Valeena Mac and cheese is a much tastier meal and have been packing it ever since.

What do the rest of you like to pack, that's light, easy to fix and doesn't require milk and butter added in? And has plenty of calories?

Instant pea soup, couscous, instant miso soup (not all at once).

I've also perfected Turkish Coffee on the trail, which is very satisfying.

Dried out spaghetti sauce in my dehydrator, then ground it up into a powder. Just add water, goes well with couscous.

I don't mind freeze dried eggs, w/ tortillas and hot sauce. Make a lot of oatmeal for breakfast too.
