ganet peak

by Jose Batres » Tue Jul 22, 2014 9:14 pm

Hey out there, I have plans to climb Ganet peak in wyoming, how difficult it is at the end of august? I've been thinking about taking the longest route. How hard and what type of gear do I need? How is the snow at that time of year? Thank you!!

I don't know how the snow pack is this year, but by late Aug. Usually the Glaciers are hard ice, and the shrund wide open. Can be some 5th class getting around the shrund.

That being said, unless you see some trip reports about current conditions, i would bring crampons/ice ax/maybe icetool/light rope/and a bit of pro-nuts,and an-ice screw or two.

Tried from titcomb basin several years ago, labor day week. The weather was Awesome!!! DRY and COOL. But the climb was tough, and slow. Hard ice open shrund, and crevasses. BUT NO SKEETERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
