Granite Peak Rock Slide Injures 2

by VincePoore » Mon Aug 06, 2012 2:56 pm

This was on the SW couloir route and I'm guessing this rock slide was in the gully below the big slab. That talus is extremely loose. If anyone has better details, please post. I'm just happy the 2 climbers are recovering and wish them the best.

We just did Granite a couple weeks ago and I can vouch for how ridiculously loose that stuff is. The gully below the slab was still snow covered when we were there. We actually climbed the rock around it, but I can imagine it would be terrible to go up that talus. Everything below that slab was just an avalanche of rock waiting to happen.
