Is it just me?

by Guyzo » Tue Oct 26, 2010 7:55 am

So is it just me or do others notice the direction of "the route" we, or what is left of US, are on?

The leaders need us, we are the suppliers.

We supply what they need.

If we STOPPED supplying.

Just what would they do?

Who would they lead?

Anybody ever been in this situation while climbing?

You keep hauling loads, because, well, it's a fun thing to do.

Days go by, you hump more and more and the route is really shaping up into something you can believe in and admire.

Fellow climbers, new friends, best friends now, sometimes are lost, some even die.

The Leaders keep going, you keep supplying and all is well.

On day one of the Leaders tells you, "I don't like the way you look while you hump that load."

Another tells you, "Really - those loads are not that important, really"

So you keep humping loads cause by now you like it, in fact you really love it --- The Route --- that is and the friends.

So how long do you sit in your tent before you decide to go tell the Leaders to F off????????

BUZ so that is how you see the parallel?

I really loved what we had before, freedom as climbers to be ourselves.

So "the new change" means we can now show semi nude chicks?

But do not make a statement that shows the "new Elves" in a bad light?

Or have a complaint.

Next Tuesday will be fun.

What happens next Tuesday?

It's not just you.
It's very quiet...

Hey Guy,

Thought you went fishing with Shorty a couple of weeks ago. How'd you like that?

You'd be amazed at the solitude, freedom, peace and serenity you will find in all that comes with it. I have found it to be just as if not better than it was the first ten years of my climbing back in the 70's.

You might think of hanging up the climbing shoes, completely walk away from it for a while, get yourself a nice fly rod and reel, start tying your own flies and go find some "secret spots" where them trout will take very good care of you. Leave all the people and the worries that comes with all of em (as you described above) behind and get totally immersed with the act of the fly rod and the trout.

Now I can truly see why the likes of YC, Joe Brown, Walter Bonatti etc hung their shoes and then picked up the fly rod.

I am loving the shit outta of it, daily! Even if I do not catch one frkn fish.

"You don't go and catch the fish. Oh No! You let the fish catch you. That is the essence of the Fly Rod."

That is cus you don't understand the way of the Fly Rod.

Rather, the Louisville Baseball Bat.....

I am out the door for another day of solitude at my very quiet local spot.

Hooked this pretty 18" bow yesterday...

That's what you are upset about? Photos of 'chicks' as you call them? Wasn't there a 'Hottest Chick Alive' thread here on SP some time ago? I lot of people sure talk as if there was one. Seems to me, if it were removed, that would be the change. Good or bad.

The part about not having the freedom to make a complaint. There is a lot of that going on. You still have that that freedom.

I just don't get what you are driving at.

His post is just the proverbial Old Climber dude "Burnout" syndrome..... trust me.

Just as another very old climber local dude friend of mine told me two days ago...

"I gave up the climbing gig cuz there just aint no soul in it any more. It's just a bigass social sprayothon trash the area gathering with a bunch of lazyass rules these days!"

And this dudes got well over 350+ FA's/Routes stemming back to the late 60's that many here on SP climb on a regular/daily basis.

Obama is to blame for the inevitable demise of SP, of course.

People do still have that freedom. Complaining about us is not why the threads were moved yesterday. It's because they had gone from discussion to garbage to rehashing of old feuds that some people just won't give up. We tried deleting posts to keep the thread on track, and that included leaving the criticisms of us, but it became too much.

I know what he's getting at and will address it later. The roots go back to earlier this year.

Well thanks Bob, because all kidding aside I really don't. I wasn't trying to make a jab with that post.
