Saw the road was graded today while I was working on the mine.. should be good travels for all who wish to go

Is it open to cars, or just bikes/hikers? My map shows it being gated...

Mine workers drive all they way to the summit (theres a mine complex access up there). not sure if private vehicles can go to the summit but I's sure you can drive for quite a ways up before the snow starts to fly

Cool, thanks! I was thinking that may be a good way to access the Vasquez Peak / Mt Nystrom areas. I was up around there for the first time a few weeks ago... looks like a nice place off the beaten path to explore a little.

I will ask tomorrow when I get back to the mine how far you can drive up before or if it's gated.. I'll let ya know

Its not gated until you reach the summit of Jones Pass. There's a gate just off the west side.
