What was the last 14er, 13er, 12er, 11er to be climbed.
I figure last 14er climbed is a pretty well known fact, but some of the lower categories maybe not. Perhaps some one knows even the last 9ers and 7ers climbed.

I think you mean the last mountain to have had a first ascent.

When I first read the post, I thought to myself, "This is impossible. There are probably people on several of the 14ers right now."

It is well-known that the last Colorado fourteener to see a first ascent was Crestone Needle (Ellingwood and Davis, 1916). I'm not an expert, but a quick scan of Bueler's Roof of the Rockies reveals some candidates, useful at least to establish some lower bounds:

- Thunder Peak (13,932) in 1970
- Twin Peaks (12,461) in 1993

The dates are for the first recorded ascents and Thunder Peaks status as an independent summit is somewhat debatable. There are other SPers who know a lot more than I do on the subject and may supplement or correct my post.

There are 4 eleveners on the east side of the Culebra Range (Crawford Ranch) that are on private land. Based on the history of that region, that land has been private for well over 100 years, they may not have been climbed by any "mountaineers". Does it mean they have never been climbed? Probably not, but as far as a "recorded ascent", I think even if they have been climbed in the "modern era" no one has admitted it!

There are lots of lower peaks that have probably been climbed, but are not "mountaineering goals" so the climbing community may not have been up them, but even the few I have been on that no one on Lists of John had signed the registers for had evidence of human travel, one even had a dirt road and campfire ring.

I guess what I am trying to say is, just because nobody in the climbing community has announced an ascent of a certain peak, doesn't mean it hasn't been climbed, so its a tough question to answer.

Yea I think that the question should be "documented" climbs. I'm sure there are plenty of summits that have been climbed by people but they never bothered to tell anyone.

According to Bueler, Thunder Peak is the name given by the first ascent party to what is now commonly known by the (unofficial) name of Thunder Pyramid.

RMNP has both a Thunder Mountain and a Thunder Peak.

there is someone(you can probably guess who) who is planning on hiking those 4 eleveners on the crawford ranch this year. keep an eye on the lists site and you'll see when....or i can tell you about that next time. or have i already?
