Latir Peaks in New Mexico: New Pages Needed.

by Bubba Suess » Sun Nov 11, 2012 1:47 pm

When Truchas took off a while back he yanked a number of pages from New Mexico. Many of them have been replaced, but three outstanding peaks from the Latir Peak Wilderness are still waiting for replacement. These are Virsylvia Peak, Cabresto Peak and Cabresto Sur Este. These are fine mountains in a beautiful part of New Mexico. I hope someone can add them soon! Map showing locations.

I would prefer that nobody put up any more pages as it would draw crowds to an otherwise unknown and pristine area. Besides that, having someone that hiked there in 1991 put up some old black and white 110 camera scanned images just to get the page back up isn't too wise idea either.

If everyone shared your approach, Summitpost would be bupkis. Thanks for your contributions!

I for one miss Truchas's pages, but if he chooses to leave Summitpost, then so be it. He is missed, at least by some. His pages were good but that weren't that good. If the right person steps up, they can be easily replaced. Case in point:

Latier Peak

Chimayosos Peak

If he has a yen to come back and build up some more New Mexico and Texas pages, I would welcome it.
