Hey guys, so me and three or four other buddies have started bullshitting around with the idea of going down to Ecuador to climb Chimborazo next May (2017).. Does anybody have any major pointers or advice to give us? I am aware that you must hire a guide, does anyone have experience with a guiding service for that area?? I am really just super stoked for this and wanted to hear if anybody had advice for a trip to South America.. Thanks - Sam

April and May are typically the worst weather months, if that is important.

Yeah I had read about that but we are planning on going in the very tail end of May, probably actually climb in the beginning of June.

Hi sroot, beginning of june should be fine for Chimborazo.

I highly recommend Freddy, IFMGA guide, and one of the bests in Ecuador: http://bit.ly/24u8BeE. The regular route for Chimborazo got quite tricky in the past seasons due to rock falling (glacier retreating), so it's important to go with a good guide I think.
