Picture of 20m deep snow hole in slovenian alps ?

by PeterCorneliusSpaeth » Sun Jul 19, 2009 1:58 pm

I remember having seen a picture of a strange 20m deep snow hole on some of the slovenian mountains. It only exits in summer. I believe it was on the ridges of one of the big ones (Triglav, Mangart, Jalovec) but I may be wrong. I also think it was a picture by Vid or by Alexandar here on SP. Any hint ? Given the amount of snow this year the snow hole might be an interesting spot to see.

Thanks a lot, Peter

By the way, is the fresh snow as of the last 2 days starting to melt in the Triglav NP already ? Any decent (working) webcam in the area (the Triglav one does not work since yesterday).

Found it meanwhile - Matkov skaf (Matk's Tub) in the Kamnik alps. Indeed one the many interesting pics from Vid.

Cheers, Peter.
