Cordillera Real Logbooks/Beta?

by slantycheese » Tue Dec 06, 2016 1:11 pm

Hello Forum,

I am involved in planning an 'expedition' of sorts to the Cordillera Real in 2017. Our main objectives are
1. Cabeza de Condor via a normal route
2. Followed by a less frequently climbed route up the NW Ridge of Huayna Potosi and
3. Ultimately a climb via the normal west face of Illampu.

What I am looking for is a logbook resource such as our own here or Peakbook that concentrates on the Cordillera Real region - specifically we want details of most recent ascents and conditions of routes etc- any thoughts, tips, advice etc.? I have already been using the English language bolivianclimbingonfo.com page but it's not very up to date recently. Are there local logbook websites in Spanish perhaps? Or are there any here that have climbed the NW route of Huayna Potosi or the standard West Face route of Illampu recently that can answer my queries?

Much obliged :-)

Yossi Brain was the man for the Bolivian Andes, killed in an avalanche on Presidente. His book:

But you may have luck by contacting some of his friends via the thread on this page who in turn may have direct or put you in contact with those who have direct knowledge of current conditions:
