Moving to Taiwan

by Benno » Fri Feb 10, 2006 10:25 am

Hi, I am about to move to Taiwan by the end of next week - not sure how long, depends on how things go there jobwise. If anybody can give me advice about nice hiking, climbing and mountaineering routes and scenic places there please let me know.
Thanks

Taiwan is a great place for outdoor, however, last years disaster have it more dificult to enter the mountain-areas, and there have been some resteruicted areas.

The Outdoor shops are usually run by enthusiastic mountaineers and outdoor-people. I find them unusually friendly and helpful, very eager to show other people the marvels of their mountains (highest peak some 4.000 m).

There are also outdoor/mountain-clubs and schools which organize trips etc.

There is alos some good books, however, the ones I got from my friends are in Chinese.. but the photos are just great! Enjoy your stay!
