Sad. He was one of the great figures in ski mountaineering. Besides his 8000m feats Jean-Noel was also the first (and to my limited knowledge only) person to ski all the Snow Leopard Peaks in Central Asia, and he also repeated to the descent of the longest skied vertical in the world (to my knowledge this record is still valid) - Denali North Face.

Gasherbrum 3 (15th highest) will be next after the storm clears. It was first climbed by Wanda Rutkiewicz and may only have one or two other ascents.
