10 days in Torres del Paine with a bum knee. Itinerary?

by wsch » Wed Nov 04, 2009 7:14 pm

Hi I fly to Puntas Arenas on the 9th of December and leave on the 19th. I was planning of hiking the W. But I am looking for suggestions. Is it better to spend more time in Torres del Paine or see the main attractions and then maybe head to another part of patagonia? Also, in my right knee my meniscus is torn so I am probably not ready for something very strenuous (although I would like to).
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Will

Hi,
In my mind, Torres cannot be beat. If your knee can handle it, I would take my time and hike the 'W', possibly attempting the circuit if you are feeling strong. However, if your knee is still inflamed, I suggest visiting Torres for 2 - 3 days and seeing what you can see via tour bus and boat, then taking a bus to El Calafate and see the glaciers for a few days. Its been a few years since I've been there, so memory is a little rusty, if you need more detail, send me a PM and I will look through my itinerary.
